FAQs
1. Which EVO charger should I choose?
EV7 EVO (up to 7.6kW) suits most UK single-phase homes. EV11 EVO and EV22 EVO need a three-phase supply — for compatible homes, workplaces and higher-power commercial sites. Confirm your supply with a qualified installer first.
2. Is the EVO range compatible with my electric car?
The UK/EU EVO range uses a Type 2 connector, the common AC standard for EVs and plug-in hybrids in the UK and Europe. Compatibility depends on your vehicle's inlet and onboard charger limit — check your manual or confirm with your installer.
3. Does EV22 EVO charge every car at 22kW?
No. A 22kW charger only delivers that speed where the vehicle's onboard charger, cable, supply and installation all support it. Many EVs limit charging below 22kW.
4. Can the EVO charger be installed outside?
Yes, the EVO range has an IP65-rated enclosure for suitable outdoor installation. IP65 means the control box resists dust and water jets — it does not mean the unit is submersible. Correct installation is still essential.
5. Does the EVO charger support smart charging?
Yes. The techtron® Smart App supports remote charging control, scheduling, live charging monitoring and energy usage visibility. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are supported. Available functions may depend on the app and firmware version.
6. Does EVO work with solar panels?
EVO is designed to work alongside compatible solar PV systems. The final solar charging configuration depends on the property’s solar, inverter and energy-management setup. A qualified installer should confirm the required configuration and available functionality.
7. Can I get an OZEV grant?
EV7 EVO, EV11 EVO and EV22 EVO have entries on the GOV.UK eligible chargepoint model list for residential and commercial grants. Eligibility depends on the relevant OZEV scheme and its customer, property, vehicle, installer and installation requirements. Ask your installer to confirm the exact listed model and current scheme requirements before applying.
8. Does the charger need professional installation?
Yes. EVO is a fixed wall-mounted charger installed by a qualified electrician. If using an OZEV grant, your installer route may also need to meet grant requirements.
9. What should I confirm before purchasing?
Confirm your electrical supply (single-phase or three-phase), your vehicle's onboard charging limit, cable length and colour, and installer availability before ordering.
10. Does EVO include dynamic load balancing?
No. EVO does not include charger-controlled dynamic load balancing. A qualified installer should assess your property’s electrical supply and confirm any external load-management solution required for the installation.
11. Can I schedule EVO for off-peak charging?
You can set supported schedules in the techtron® Smart App. No energy-tariff integration is claimed; confirm tariff rules with your energy provider.
12. Does the displayed price include installation?
The displayed price covers the charger unless an installation package is explicitly shown. A qualified installer must confirm site requirements and any extra cost.
13. What warranty does EVO include?
EVO includes up to 3 years of main-unit warranty, subject to the warranty terms. Coverage starts on the date of installation by a qualified electrician or six months after factory shipment, whichever is earlier. Where applicable, registration is required within 30 days of installation. Cables, plugs, sockets, accessories and optional add-ons have 12 months of coverage. 14. Can I return my EVO charger?
For orders placed through techtron.co, 30-day change-of-mind returns are available for unused, undamaged items in their original packaging. See the Returns Policy for the full conditions and return process. For faulty items, contact techtron® support. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
