As a UK landlord, you can access one of the most generous EV charger grants available. The OZEV Residential Landlord Chargepoint Grant provides up to £500 per socket, for up to 200 sockets per year — a potential £100,000 in annual grant funding.

Landlord Eligibility Requirements
To claim the OZEV landlord grant, you must meet all of the following. For the wider picture of who qualifies across all five schemes, see our OZEV eligibility guide.
- Be a residential landlord (private individual, company, charity, housing association, or freeholder)
- Be registered with Companies House OR VAT-registered with HMRC
- Install chargepoints at a domestic rental property you own or manage
- Ensure each installation uses an OZEV-authorised installer and OZEV-approved chargepoint
- Ensure each parking space is private, off-street, and clearly defined
Can a Limited Company Apply?
Yes. A limited company that owns or manages residential rental properties can apply. The company must be registered with Companies House. Applications must be submitted in the company name, and supporting documents must match the registered company details.
Commercial Landlords
Commercial landlords — those letting properties to businesses paying business rates — were previously covered by a separate scheme. As of 1 April 2026, this scheme has closed to new applications. Businesses installing chargers for their own staff should look at the Workplace Charging Scheme instead. Residential landlords should apply before the 31 March 2027 deadline.
Application Process for Landlords
- Get a quote from an OZEV-authorised installer
- Register on the gov.uk Find a Grant platform (new from 1 April 2026)
- Submit your application with required documents
- Await OZEV approval — do NOT begin installation until confirmed eligible
- Installer completes installation within 90 days of approval
- Installer claims grant; deducted from your invoice

Can I apply as a landlord if I have not yet found a tenant?
Yes, provided the property is genuinely available for let and you meet all other eligibility criteria. The charger installation must be at a domestic rental property you own or manage.
What happens if my application is rejected?
OZEV will notify you by email with the reason for rejection. Common reasons include: incomplete documentation, property not meeting off-street parking criteria, or the chosen chargepoint not being on the approved list.
